Sooo, the much-anticipated pecan-mocha frangipane tart actually worked out well despite my lack of anything suitable to bake it in. First attempt: springform pan. Result: wall collapse and miserable failure.
Okay, cut my losses, salvage usable pastry for garnish, regroup, new crust and try again.
This time, in a shallower pan, still no tart pan, but... less unsuitable. Worked out, kinda, even if it did brown a bit much. The filling, though, was excellent -- suuuuper rich, but then again, what can you expect from something composed almost entirely of saturated fat. Was good!
Still gotta find a reason or excuse or SOMETHING to make that maple nutmeg cream tart. I do have some leftover dough... heh.
Swiss Chalet lunch today. It's dirty how much I love that sauce. Accordingly, salad for dinner.
Then drew up plans and roughed out a cardboard mock-up of my incoming GINGERBREAD BABCIA'S HOUSE. Ambitious? Yeah... definitely. This was the hardest part, and by "hardest" I mean "least fun." Everything from now on involves food, whereas this initial planning stage only involved tape and cutting up boxes, which is less fun.
We'll see if I can make it happen!
Tomorrow's dinner? Who knows. Depends how the day goes...
