So, needed to start whipping up Xmassy sweet and fattening things. Tried the Midnight Rum Balls I found on CHOW -- super easy with ground Oreos and liquor, pretty much.
In retrospect they didn't even need to be Oreos. They could have easily been any cookie or anything sweet at all. I made some with Kahlua (well, poor man's no-name Kahlua, anyway) and coffee-sugar coating; some with rum and candy-cane bits; and a few odd ones with some leftover gingersnap crumbs and whiskey. Now they sit in the sunroom while I pretend to be uninterested in eating them.
Tomorrow gonna make something else. Whiskey-related maybe. I'm considering cookies. Or fudge. We shall see.
Made the family tried-and-true much-loved chicken with mushrooms tonight and it came out awesomer than I've ever made it before, which is to say it was a mushroom and Dijon mouth party with SUPER tender chicken. Good stuff.
